INTERNET UPDATE - LEGAL SPECIALTY SITES

The Web offers an abundance of legal specialty sites to use for research, investigation and the gathering of legal materials that you would be hard pressed to find in any other medium.

Here is a sample of some of the sites:

Product Liability Law: Ashcraft & Gerel, LLP with offices in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Massachusetts sponsors a site, full of resources for product liability issues at http://www.ashcraftandgerel.com/ddprod.html.  The "Elements of Product Liability Claims," "Negligence as a Product Liability Theory" and "Warranty and Strict Liability Theories" are very instructive. The site is highlighted by a well-written explanation of the law, while helpful to consumers is also useful for legal professionals. The links list includes several pages devoted to various areas of the legal specialty.

Elder Law: The SeniorLaw Web site is located at http://www.seniorlaw.com. It is a comprehensive site where senior citizens, families, legal professionals, social workers and financial planners can access information regarding elder law, Medicare, Medicaid, estate planning, trusts and the rights of the elderly and disabled. Links are also provided to Nursing Home Law, Social Security Information, Long Term Care Insurance and other sites that cater to the needs of the elderly today. There are also links to state and federal resources, law school resources and Eldercare resources. discretion in deciding what kind of medical care he/she will receive.

Bankruptcy Law: Warren E. Agin of Swiggert & Agin, of Boston, MA has created a site located at http://www.lawtrove.com/bankruptcy/. This site is a combination of links to statutes, regulations, cases and codes as well as FAQ and general information sections. The site also is enhanced with quick loading graphics and a straight line to its content.

Environmental Law: The Environmental Law Institute, (ELI) at is an internationally recognized, independent research and education center based in Washington, D.C. ELI researches pressing problems, educates professionals and citizens about the nature of these issues. The site contains research reports archived from 1992 and feature links to worldwide governmental and non-governmental resources. http://www.eli.org

Maritime/Admiralty Law: The Maritime Law and Admiralty Law Page is located at http://www.admiraltylaw.com. This site provides information about Canadian and international maritime, marine and admiralty law, the law of marine insurance and the law of the sea, ships and shipping. There are also extensive links to other shipping, maritime law and marine insurance.

These are just a few of the web sites that deal with legal specialties, subspecialties and odd or different issues that may arrive in your office. If you can’t find a site that covers your specialty area, broaden your search.
